Blogs

I decided it is about time I get writing. I read blogs everyday. I love reading blogs. Now I should probably really write in my blog. Of course, I also currently have plenty of free time since I am on a 12 week family medicine rotation. I think this might be the first time in about say 7 years I have not HAD to study everyday after school/work. Work is kind of what I have been doing since July 4 when I started 3rd year.

So anyways, to start off my new writing streak. I'll give you some of my favorite blogs which I read on my phone daily compliments of google reader. Oooooh-I even figured out how to add in a link like all my favorite bloggers do. This is going to be a good blogging streak. Get ready, blog-friends (aka: mom + sister + BFF barrie)

Weddings
Weddingbee: this is hands down the best wedding blog ever. They pick "bees" to blog. Bees are either "Ms." or "Mrs." and they get a fun little logo. Ms bees are the ones who are engaged and planning their weddings and they blog the most. The Mrs bees are the married bees who used to be the Ms bees. It's cute and you get a lot of posts everyday which is good if you don't have an extensively filled google reader like I/stalkers do. To be honest, this is no longer in my google reader. I decided since I don't even have a boyfriend, I probably should stop reading weddingbee. It only took me about a year to finally dump weddingbee, but as soon as I meet "the one" (or anyone) I'll be back.

Fashion (since I'm a fashionista)
Cupcakes and Cashmere: She is cute. I wish her blog came up in my reader. I mean it does, but I always have to click over to her actual site to see her full post and I only read my blogs when I'm bored at work because truth be told I'm not a real doctor and I have to wait for the real doctors to tell me what to do. Suggestions to fix this blogosphere problem would be much appreciated.
Kendi Everyday: She is funny. And adorable. And her outfits are awesome. Her husband photographs her. And now she has a boutique somewhere in Texas. I might want to quit my day job (ok fine school) and be her.
A Longenecker Story: A friend from middle school's blog. I actually am no longer friend's with her, but she seems as cool as she was in middle school.
Bricolage: compliments of weddingbee. She is so cute and has great taste.

Medicine/Doctor stuff
Doctor Mama: Funny! Wish she blogged more.
Eating Despite Cancer: Written by a heme-onc (aka hematology-oncology) doctor I worked with, who also writes The Merry Gourmet which is seen below under food.
Jamsie Beats The Tumor: 8 month old boy diagnosed with brain cancer and passed within a month. Found this blog randomly and it touched me a lot. Makes you appreciate life and live in the moment.
Mothers in Medicine : OMG love love love. Since I plan to be a mother (knock on wood) in medicine (no need to knock), this blog is da bomb.
OB/Gyn Kenobi: She is my idol. I hope I have better hours when I grow up though.
Living With the Big C: Unfortunately this young man in his 30s died from cancer this year. His story was such an inspiration and he truly changed my view on life. Breath in hope, breath out love. A must read with a big ol' box of Kleenex.

Home Decor
Bien Living Blog: compliments of wedding bee. She is an interior designer.
Killer B. Designs: compliments of wedding bee. She is a SAHM (stay at home mom) who does a lot of fun home improvement projects.
Little Green Notebook: compliments of my sister. No idea where she got this, probably wedding bee. I started reading this today, but it makes it here because I already know I'm obsessed by the 2 hour blog reading session I had after my run. And if you can do math correctly that means all I have done after work today is run, read a blog for 2 hours, and written this. Oh how I love family medicine.
Love & Renovations: Found her on weddingbee when I was obsessed with my non-existant wedding. But I love love love her home improvement projects. It reminds me of my parents and I cannot wait to have my own house/condo to someday (pay someone to) make pretty.

Photography (compliments of my sister)
Marissa Moss Photography: One of my sister's friends from college.
Shay Cochrane Photography: Can't remember where I found her. My sister?
Brooke Logue Photography: My sister's friend from high schools older sister.

Mommy (for my non-existent children)
Mommie X: Omg is she funny. I got this blog from my cousin's husband. This is his lawyer-mentor's wife.
Rabit Stew: She just had a baby. Compliments of wedding bee.
The OMG Mom: hilarious. compliments of wedding bee. and actually I just started reading this 2/2* my sister who just emailed it to me 2 nights ago.
Bee In our Bonnet: These 2 sisters make such cute cookies.
* (2/2 = secondary to; one of my favorite short-hands I use in medical notes...it makes me feel cool.)

Food (since I cook)
On The Boil: One of my med school friends. I kind of want to be more like her. We share the love of photograhy, biking, and ob/gyn. But she is probably going to be a "surgeon"- aka go into general surgery. I personally think ob/gyn's are also surgeons, some may disagree.
The Merry Gourmet: One of my attending physicians I worked with. I also kind of want to be like her. Really. She is SUCH a compassionate physician. She does women's oncology AND she has an awesome, legit blog. Sold.

Dating (or lack thereof)
Single For a Reason: Some of this stuff is just hilarious. And true. Trust me, it's entertaining being single. This is compliments of my med school friend, Meera. She knows one of the girls who writes this, from somewhere.

And while I have been doing this post, I should have been packing for New Orleans, because I happen to be skipping class on Friday and leaving tomorrow night straight from work. Okay really I am going to NOLA for a medical school workshop. And yes, I'm very excited to learn how to place an IUD. Have I mentioned I am also 99% positive I am going to be an OB/GYN when I grow. Obviously not because I have not been on here since July. Anyways, expect another post next week after I return from NOLA (I like this acronym). I happen to have some delicious dinner reservations made compliments of Open Table and a food tour planned. Maybe I'll even see the city in between eating.
